It was lovely to work outside in the fresh air for a while this month as we have been busy installing solar panels ready for the summer sunshine to take hold!
One of the advantages of being registered with the NIC EIC means that we are qualified to carry out electrical testing and issue an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which is a legal requirement. We have certainly been kept on our toes with a large number of requests for these reports this month! A point to note; a new customer has come to us following paying for an EICR only to find out that the person carrying out the testing is not registered to do this work and the report is not to the required standard. An EICR from a NICEIC approved contractor will only be issued on a red form. Please visit the NICEIC website at www.niceic.com for more information about electrical work and the benefits of using a registered contractor.
We can carry out inspection reports on domestic and commercial properties. The maximum period between inspections will depend on the use of the property. The most common requirements for reports that we receive are from landlords of residential property and just before or after purchasing a property.
Landlords, did you know that you are required to maintain your properties and that an electrical installation condition report is the best way that you can demonstrate that you are maintaining your electrical systems. There is a political drive to make this report mandatory in law as the gas certificate has been for years.
